Help, I'm having audio troubles. There's noise, an echo, quality issues, no audio, and/or call drops!

We want the best audio for your calls! There are a couple steps we recommend to ensure you have the best possible experience using a digital desktop softphone on your computer or laptop. Follow the 4 different sections ahead to be sure you've got the best settings for your equipment!

1) Get on the latest Update

Many improvements and corrections were applied since version 1 to address all kinds of computer, network, and headset combinations. To get the latest update, simply revisit the downloadable links that appear in your Dashboard OX. If you already have the softphone downloaded on your computer, you'll need to uninstall it before following the steps below. To uninstall a program on windows follow these steps:

If you've never downloaded the softphone or have already uninstalled it, continue here. If an administrator has already enabled your Desktop Softphone license, they can click on the blue Desktop Softphone link in the Admin's user section or the end-user can click on the same blue link in their 'Receive Calls At' section to generate the download links for your user. On the left we see the Mac download and on the right the Windows download. Follow the install prompts, you should remain logged in during and after installation.

Once you've clicked on your Apple or Windows link, a download will begin on the bottom left. Click on it so it opens once it's finished downloading.

Once the download has finished, click "Next" until it fully installs, check the 'Run RingByName Softphone', check the 'Create desktop shortcut', and then click "Finish."

While setting up your softphone, it will bring up a Windows Defender Firewall or Apple protection alert. Be sure to select "Allow Access" so inbound and outbound calls are allowed.

Your RingByName Desktop Softphone should now be on the latest version, free from any reported bugs/issues.  Make and take business calls comfortably on the latest update!

For desktop softphone in the Settings (Gear Icon) > Sound > There are several settings we recommend adjusting.
2) Microphone, and Speaker should both be set to your respective microphone and speaker. Being sure the right audio devices are selected is important to avoid audio issues. Headsets often being better in quality than any built-in audio devices.
3) Microphone Gain and Playback Gain should also be lowered if you are experiencing echo or similar noises on your calls.

4) Finally there is incoming and outgoing audio noise suppression and echo cancellation mode. These settings can be raised or lowered to further remove audio noises or increase headset volume if your microphone is too low or headphones are too quiet.

There's no definitive setting for every headset, but we've shown our moderate, in the middle recommendations to start with in the images provided.
